'FAVOURITES' We ask make up artists which eco products they love and why. WORDS_ Nicola Brittin

To begin my quest for great conscious products I thought I’d start by asking my make up artist friends for their recommendation …… along with the question ‘What self care have you done during lock down that you don’t usually have time for? ‘ and what an amazing selection of answers!

I love these Kat Von D Technicolor Crayon sticks for their multipurpose usage and vivid colour. They blend like a dream and set for a budge proof look; you could do a full face paint or a softly blended eyeshadow look with them.

I’ve had less time to myself during this lockdown than I ever have before, so there hasn’t been much time for any typical ‘self care’ rituals such as bubble baths and binge watching my favorite series etc. I’ve done my make up a couple of times which has perked me up somewhat but mostly I’ve been doing a lot of diy and painting around the house which I love. To me, doing things I love is my way of looking after myself. I’ve also been searching for artists who work I can fill my home with, after all, it’s a space where we’ll be spending a lot of time in during this lockdown period.

Amala Silkening Creamy Moisture Cleanse: I can confidently say it is the best wash-off cleanser I’ve ever used in my life! ✓It has an amazing creamy silky consistency that does NOT foam, not even a little bit, which makes it a non-drying formula ✓The scent is subtle, relaxing and spa-like ✓It washes off without any residue. It just leaves your skin clean and balanced. ✓Luxurious packaging.

I’ve been really into dry brushing again! I love it! I do it before I work out in the morning and I notice it warms up my body and gets the circulation going, i can literally feel my body waking up. It also gives you the softest skin EVER and helps massively with ingrown hairs too. I also make sure to moisturise my body even more than before as it can get itchy and dry if you only dry brush and never nourish. I use a body oil in the shower (i apply it as soon as I finish showering, while i’m still in the shower and wet), and then when I come out I also use a body cream as I now have the time to be extra!
I’m also taking care of my feet so much more now, I exfoliate them in the shower and moisturise them daily with heavy creams and balms.

Pure Pigment in statice
I love how this pigment gives a sheer, supernatural sheen, almost gloss effect. In natural light it has amazing violet colour. I love it as a wash of light on the eyes or all over the skin with a punchy, solid lip colour.

Self care wise: Meditating. Seeing my therapist via zoom. Eating properly 3 times a day. I’m gwyneth paltrow now.

I love this product because it truly relies on its 100% natural properties to do its job and you can intensify its potency depending on how much raw apple cider vinegar or water you add. It really helps for any congested pores excess oil.

My self care routine whilst living with restrictions has been avoiding Make up altogether and learning to see what my skin is doing in its natural state. My skin has been the best it’s been in years because I’ve not had to to combat a synthetic layer of make up or as much pollution when cleansing. The daily routine has been stripped right back because my skin desires less help and it’s quite happy self functioning with minimal intervention!

Product- Kjaer Weis Highlighter
Why I love it- It has a beautiful sheen, not sparkly at all, organic, luxury refillable packaging.

In terms of self care, I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant, so I’m taking advantage of all the online prenatal classes- Yoga, Pilates, hypnobirthing...etc.
Lots of bath time, staying positive and just take an easy!
